Introduction
Does your door make an annoying creaking sound whenever you try to open your door? Is your door sagging because of the hinges on your door? These are problems that a lot of people who own homes have to deal with at some point.
Do not worry because these problems are easy to fix. You can fix them by using things and knowing what to do. You do not have to be a professional to fix a squeaking door or hinges that're too tight or too loose on your door.
Here is a simple guide that you can do yourself to get rid of the sound of your door or make your door firm again.
Some pretty simple things can make a door squeak, sag, or get stuck.
These things are:
* Dust and rust on the door hinges
* The door hinges do not have lubrication
* The screws on the hinge plates come loose
* The door hinges are not aligned properly because the door has been used for a time or because of changes in the weather during certain times of the year
* The door was not installed correctly, or it has parts
If you do not take care of these small door problems, they can cause bigger problems with the door.
To fix a squeaking door or a door that is loose, you will need some things.
You need a Phillips head screwdriver and a Flathead screwdriver.
You also need some kind of lubricant, like WD-40 or silicone lubricant.
A rag or some tissue paper will come in handy, too.
If your screws are loose, a toothpick or a matchstick can help.
There are some tools that you might need, such as a hammer, a drill, some screws, or new hinges.
Squeaky doors are really annoying. They are usually caused by dirty hinges. To fix this problem, you can follow these steps:
Step 1 – Find The Hinge That Is Causing The Problem
You should gently open and close the door to see which hinge is making the squeaking noise. Identify the hinge that causes the squeak. This will help you figure out where to start.
Step 2 – Put Some Oil On The Hinge
I like to use WD-40 silicone spray or 3-in-1 oil to lubricate the hinge. Just spray some oil into the hinge area. Then close the door a few times to see if it still squeaks. Use a cloth to rub off the oil. This usually does the trick for doors.
Tip: If you do not want to use oil, you can try sliding a bar of soap on the hinge pin. This is a trick that works for squeaky doors. I have tried it before. It really works.
Step 3. Take Out The Pin. Clean It (If The Squeak Is Still There)
If the squeak comes back right after you put oil on the hinge, you might need to do a clean. Use a screwdriver and a hammer to pull out the hinge pin. Then clean the pin and the hinge area with a cloth. Apply some lubricant to the hinge pin. Finally, push the pin in. Test the door to see if it still squeaks. This should fix the door problem.
Squeaky doors can be really frustrating. Squeaky doors are usually easy to fix with a bit of oil and some cleaning. You will be happy when you fix the door problem. Squeaky doors will no longer be a problem for you.
